What we do

The Craighead Institute provides learning programmes, events, research and consultancy for individuals and organisations. We work with a range of partners locally and internationally.

Our work with leaders and organisations enables them to develop as stronger and more purposeful. It may be that they are struggling to be as effective as they should be, or they may wish to ensure that current actions and future plans match their values or guiding principles. Our work aims to ensure that are better equipped to serve the community they intend to support.

Our work with individuals helps them to explore how their beliefs or faith translate into action. This enables people to reflect on how these can be the foundation for their interaction with the world and can help to promote a more just society.

How we do it
The Craighead Institute was founded on Ignatian principles; recognising God in the everyday, using reflection as a means to discernment and good decisions, tapping into imagination and emotion as well as intellect, recognising concern for justice and human dignity as an expression of faith and empowering people to an active life of service.

Our faith-based courses for individuals focus on these principles while our other courses and consultancy work share this reflective and imaginative basis and the principle of discernment in decision making. Much of our consultancy work is based on systemic and psychodynamic foundations but we also use tools from action science and person centred planning.

At the Craighead Institute we work to the following principles:

  • striving for excellence in all aspects of our work
  • endeavouring to contract with individuals and organisations in a clear and transparent manner
  • working to clearly agreed tasks and targets and ensure appropriate and timely negotiation when there is a need to review these
  • seeking feedback on quality and actively seeking to improve it
  • maintaining confidentiality
  • working ethically and complying with the law
